Repainting Your Own Bedroom Set

Posted on March 8 2013

Bored of the plain old bedroom set that you have? Why not repaint them? Yes, you can repaint your old bedroom set and add new life to them! To repaint your bedroom set successfully, the following article will help you with that. Read on.

The first step to take is to dissemble your bedroom set. Keep all the screws, handles and hinges in a separate container and make sure to mark them. With the use of a sandpaper, sand the bedroom set just enough to chalk up the surface. Brush the dust residue from the set with the use of a clean paint brush. This will help absorb the primer and paint better. Next, lay out your drop sheet but make sure that it is a well ventilated area. Once you find a good place to paint your bedroom set, place the furniture to be painted on top of your drop sheet. Apply the first coat primer to the furniture and allow it to dry. Once the primer is dry, apply a thin coat of paint to the furniture. Let the paint dry for at least four hours before applying the next thin coat of paint. This will give you a better color compared to the first coating. If you want a rich color to appear, apply about three or four very thin layers of coating. Make sure that you have adequate drying time in between coats. This way the coatings won’t look thick. Once you are done painting, let the paint dry for about 24 hours the least. If the paint is dry, reassemble the bedroom set again. You can then add bedroom furniture to your room that will match the new color of your bedroom set. This will add more life into your bedroom.
